fifty Years Ago Boxing by Brian Zelley

As I look back over the boxing of fifty years ago in local amateur boxing,
We had the BC boxers of 1970 winning Canadian titles including Neil Austin,
Frank Scott, Freddy Fuller Daryl Olson, Jack Meda and others.

In professional boxing we had Joe Frazier defeating Jimmy Ellis and Bob Foster
wThen the big upset with Billy Backus defeating Jose Napoles, and Nino Benvenuti dropping the title to Carlos Monzon. And then there was featherweight Vincente Saldivar and in other divisions such stars as Freddie Little.
